Become a Volunteer
Serve as an Advisor
High School teachers and YMCA staff typically serve as club advisors for our local Hi-Y, Tri-Hi-Y, and Youth & Government Clubs. Advisors help students prepare for our programs, collect and submit paperwork, attend our programs with their students, and oversee their students club if they have one. An Advisor Guide is available to help advisors understand this role better.
Serve as a Volunteer
Lobbyist, Legislators, Attorneys, Judges, Alumni and Capitol staff, we couldn’t run our programs without your help! Volunteers help students from prepping for their program to guiding them during their program. Volunteers are an essential part of making all of our programs successful. Help students from all across the Commonwealth and become a volunteer today!.
Serve on College Staff
Virginia YMCA alumni continue to give back by serving as college staffers. Alumni help in chambers, assist reporters and lobbyists, advise the Underclassmen Legislature, and coordinate bill tracking efforts, among other things. College staff applications are available on December 1, must be submitted by January 5th, and can be found on the MGA page. Alumni must be available from noon on the Thursday of MGA through 2 PM on the Saturday of MGA. Join your fellow alumni and be a part of this year’s MGA!
